Typar TreeCircle is made of Typar Landscape Fabric, which has been used to help prevent weed growth in landscaped areas for many years. The fabric is a strong and durable spunbonded polypropylene. Porous enough to allow water, air and nutrients through to permit the healthy soil conditions required by a tree or shrub, Typar TreeCircle is bonded tightly enough that weed roots cannot easily penetrate it. Without access to the soil beneath the fabric, weeds are unable to sustain their growth.

Homeowners and landscapers constantly battle weeds, which are opportunistic, persistent and unattractive; can compete with desired plants for space, water and nutrients; and can harbor disease and pests. Traditional methods of preventing weed growth have several disadvantages. It's easy to install because it has a hole in the center for the trunk and it has a slit from the hole to the outside edge. If you want to plant flowers around the tree or shrub, that's easy, too; simply cut an "x" in the fabric and plant the new flower or pull the existing plant through the "x".

To install Typar TreeCircle, create a smooth surface by clearing grass and other objects from the area around your tree or shrub. Place Typar TreeCircle flush on the ground, centering it around the tree trunk or shrub base. Then cover Typar TreeCircle with three to four inches of organic mulch such as hardwood chips, or inorganic mulch such as stone. Occasionally, an aggressive weed will grow in the mulch over Typar TreeCircle, but it's usually easy to pull.
