Reemay® Lawn and Garden Blankets are a lightweight, floating plant-cover with multiple benefits for flowers, vegetables, shrubs and grass. Made of spunbonded polyester, Reemay Lawn and Garden Blankets retain warmth and moisture to protect plants during cold spells and to boost germination and growth when temperatures begin to rise. In addition, the multi-season fabric creates a physical barrier to garden pests such as insects and small animals.

Reemay has been used on agricultural cash crops for more than 30 years, and practical experience and university tests have shown that soil and air temperatures under the fabric are 3° to 7° F higher than uncovered areas; this extra warmth helps speed germination and growth. Used in the spring and fall, the blankets help protect plants from frost, so you can plant earlier in the season and leave plants out later than would be possible without the covers.

Sunlight, nutrients, air and water easily pass through the blankets; in fact, if you wish to water your plants, you don't have to remove the blankets but can simply water through them. Reemay Lawn and Garden Blankets also help retain moisture, so the atmosphere under them is similar to a greenhouse.

Reemay Lawn and Garden Blankets provide a physical barrier to protect your vegetables, flowers and grass from insects looking for a snack. The blankets also deter small mammals, such as rabbits and birds, from eating your seeds or seedlings. Of course, it's always a good idea to check under the blankets periodically to make sure the area was not already infested before it was covered with the Reemay.

Available in a convenient 12-foot by 15-foot size, lightweight Reemay Lawn and Garden Blankets are easy to use. Simply drape them loosely over vegetables, flowers, shrubs and turf grass, leaving plenty of room for the plants to grow. Fold the edges under and secure them with stones, dirt or Typar Fabric Pegs, 10 of which are included in the package.

Water plants by spraying directly onto the cover. Remove the Reemay Lawn and Garden Blankets if you need insects to pollinate your plants and when the temperature reaches 75°F because the temperature under the blankets will be higher.

When mowing grass after removing the blanket, mow only one-third of the new growth at a time to avoid turf grass shock. When you no longer need your Reemay Lawn and Garden Blankets, fold them and store them out of direct sunlight. Properly stored and cared for, Reemay Lawn and Garden Blankets can last several seasons.
